Many students are very interested in a number of complementary therapies, but their hearts sink when they discover they have also to study anatomy and physiology! At this School we strive to share our awe at the wonders of the human organism so that study becomes a (hopefully, less painful) journey of discovery. This course will cover the underpinning knowledge necessary in a number of health related areas of employment or self employment, whether in conventional or complementary healthcare.
The aims of the course are:
The course will comprehensively cover the following topics: Skeleton & Joints; cardiovascular system, nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, cells, tissues & organs, muscular system, lymphatic system, endocrine system, urinary system, reproductive system and the integumentary system.
This course is delivered one day a month over a period of nine months, as part of a rolling programme.
Students will be assigned work to complete independently and are expected to develop and maintain a portfolio of their work throughout the course, which will be assessed at regular intervals by the tutor. All coursework must be completed on time and to standard.
On completion of all coursework, there will be a formal written examination (3 hours).
